Pay attention to the temperature of the water - Doing laundry is much more than a quick wash and dry, you have to pay attention to the little details. The temperature of the water you use when you wash your clothes matters, so don’t believe anyone who says it doesn’t. Our wash and fold laundromat uses warm water for man-made fibers, knitted clothing, and jeans. We use cold water for dark or bright colors that bleed or delicate fibers. 

Select quality detergent - We use a detergent with minimal ingredients for the clothing that comes through our laundry service. It’s important to choose a highly rated detergent to use on your clothes when you wash and dry them at home. 

Skip fabric softener - When you wash and dry your clothing at home, you should skip the fabric softener. There’s no question about whether fabric softener works because it makes clothing softer, but it’s at a cost. Fabric softer breaks down the fibers of your clothing over time, which means your clothing won’t last as long if you use it. 

Avoid using too much detergent - A common mistake that many people make when they are doing their laundry is that they use too much detergent. This may sound ridiculous because you may think that more detergent means your clothes will be cleaner, but that’s not the case. Using more detergent than you need will likely result in needing to rinse or wash your laundry again. Having too much detergent in a load of laundry won’t allow it to rinse off properly. Another thing to think about is the more detergent you use per load of laundry, the more laundry detergent you will have to buy. 

Treat stains immediately - Treating stains right away will significantly increase the chances of you getting them out. A common mistake people make is that they wash and dry the piece of clothing that they want to get stains out of, before checking if the stain remover worked. You should hand scrub the piece of clothing after the stain remover has set, to determine if it worked because once you dry the clothing, the stain is there forever.                 

Sort laundry to avoid bleeding colors - Sorting your darks and lights is a very simple way to keep your clothing from getting discolored when you wash and dry your laundry at home. Sorting your clothes may seem tedious, but it will save you a lot of money if you take the time to do it. Our laundry service will always sort your clothing if you choose to drop it off to us.

Avoid shrinkage by paying attention to the dryer temperature - Although your clothing may dry faster on higher heat, you will likely have a lot of damaged clothing if you use high heat to dry your clothes. The best way to dry your clothes at home is low and slow. Low heat for a long time or save energy and hang dry everything if you have the time. 

Minimize wrinkles - Removing your clothing from the dryer as soon as it completes the cycle will save you time because you won’t have to iron everything due to wrinkles.
